ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, my connection to art and music was nurtured from birth, thanks to my parents' creativity and enthusiasm. My first significant video project was for a school assignment, resulting in a video report about a Judo tournament for my 7th grade Video Technology class taught by Ms. Cathleen Seem Ruggiero. I took more video production and art classes in high school. Later, was fortunate enough to stay with my aunt and uncle in Vancouver, BC, Canada for a few months, to study classical (hand-drawn) animation and basic film production. After that, I joined the work force and I received encouragement when my boss, historian Tim Hills, allowed me to shoot videos of his history lectures. A chance discovery of a music CD at a local library introduced me to classical concert pianist Marie-Luise Hinrichs (who is now my girlfriend) and the world of live concert videography opened up to me. I continued learning through trial and error, mentorship, collaboration, and YouTube tutorials. I found opportunities to shoot live concert videos, short films, and wedding videos. While shooting a video about a local sustainability festival, I met rapper/filmmaker Quincy Davis of Seven Vision Studios, who became my friend and mentor in filmmaking. Next, I met the Possibly Irish band, for whom I shot my first music videos. Which brings us to today. Lately I've continued to shoot mostly music videos and documentaries of live, in-studio recording sessions.
